    This guide provides all the basic instructions and information necessary for preparing and conducting a 2-day
    course on engine performance.
    The course was developed to familiarize the students with engine performance systems and components.
    Course objectives
    Upon completion of training, the students will be able to identify and explain the purpose, function, theory and
    operation of automotive engine performance systems and engine components with 80% accuracy.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the combustion process.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the fuel delivery system.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the fuel injection system.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the engine management system.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the ignition control system.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of the emission control devices.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of diesel engine fuel injection.
    ã Explain the purpose and function of forced induction systems
    ã Explain the Symptom-to-System-to-Component-to-Cause diagnostic process
    Course duration: 2 days
    Who should attend
    The target audience is an entry-level technician or employee of a Ford Motor Company Trustmark, dealer, or
    affiliate with no automotive background or automotive knowledge. Upon completing the training, we expect
    technicians entering STST or Trustmark training programs to have basic (common) automotive knowledge and to
    be able to identify automotive systems.
