Native speakers of English use manu different patterns when they are speaking. However there are four basic patterns which, with their variations, make up the great majority of English sentences. A student who understands these four basic structures and can use them with ease should be able to understand and speak in most English situations. These four patterns are: statements, questions, requests and commands.
