Things to look out for in
    software descriptions
Before getting all excited, you should bear in mind a few warnings when you’re
reading the information on the side of a software box.
If the word recommended is used, beware! The box may say, for example, that it
requires 64MB (megabytes) of RAM but that 160MB is recommended. This recommendation
usually means that you need 160MB, or else the product won’t perform
    to expectations.
Beware of the “upgrade” version. Sometimes, software is sold as an upgrade,
which means that its manufacturer assumes that you have the old or original version
already on your computer. If you don’t, the upgrade doesn’t install properly, and
you’re out of luck and money. (Because upgrade versions are generally cheaper,
don’t think that you’ve found a bargain or are saving money by getting one when
you don’t have the original version already.)
