Reliability cost/worth assessment of distribution systems incorporating time-varying loads
ABSTRACT

​Reliability worth analysis is an important role in power system planning and operation. The interruption
cost is a parameter to assess the customer damage functions and worth reinforcement. This paper provides
two reliability cost analysis with incorporating average loads and time varying loads. The residential and
industrial interruption costs are analyzed in distribution. The technique is tested by evaluating the
reliability worth of a distribution system for installation of disconnected switches, lateral fuses,
transformers, and alternative supplies. The results show that reliability worth assessment incorporating
time-varying loads are more accurate than average loads.
