Based on your reading of Chapter 6, submit a brief comment relating the concept of stages of moral development to the moral theories studied in the earlier chapters. Briefly (no more than 2 paragraphs) relate the Kohlberg’s moral development stages and the previous theories (Ethical subjectivism, Cultural Relativism, and Ethics and Religion), to the actual behavior of people discussed in earlier chapters, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Adolph Eichmann, the subjects of Milgram's experiment, and the bystanders in the Kitty Genovese case. For instance, you should be able to associate Martin Luther King Jr. with the “post-conventional stage” due to his defense of universal moral principles. Adolph Eichmann, on the other hand, can be easily associated with Kohlberg’s “conventional stage” for stating at the Nuremberg Trial that he was simply following the laws of his country to justify his conduct during the World War II.
