Topic: Outward Foreign Direct Investment of Vietnam from 1989 until now

ABSTRACT:Outflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) of Vietnam recently is increasing and have positive changes. This study takes a closer look at the status of outward FDI of Vietnam by sectorial and regional structure; and in comparison with outward FDI of some countries in Southeast Asia and East Asia, with inward FDI and with GDP of home country in order to have a more comprehensive overview about Vietnam's FDI outflow. Besides, the study analyzes the determinant elements affecting these activities during the period from 1989 to 2011 in Vietnam (particular emphasis on the period 2005-2011) through the comparison of these problems with a number of countries in East Asia and Southeast Asia (notably China and Thailand) and through analysis of some countries that Vietnam invested in the most (notably Laos and Cambodia). These countries have a lot in common with Vietnam on the development of economic, cultural, geographical location . The comparison with these countries will be helpful to evaluate more precisely success Vietnam has achieved when invests abroad; find out the strengths as well as some drawbacks of Vietnam; from which we gives some recommended measures to promote outward foreign direct investment of Vietnam.
