Modern music scene is a collection of diverse styles, which temps listeners into continual exploration. Nowadays while popular genres like pop, rock or R&B start to lose their dominance, people have accustomed themselves with new trends, including Jazz. Although Jazz in fact came to life over a century ago, its history remains mysterious for lots of fans. If you are curious about this unique type of music, here is Jazz classified chronologically into 4 periods.
The first period in Jazz’s history, Early Jazz, began in 1890s and finished in 1910s. Within those 20 years, slavery practices in American continent gradually came to an end, bringing freedom back to thousands of black people. To declare their liberation, they invented Jazz music as a kind of low-class entertainment. Jazz, at the time, was often played spontaneously at brothels or bars with only brass, reeds and drums. Two outstanding styles in this period are Ragtime and New Orleans music, which laid a basis for Jazz improvement in the future.
