ABSTRACT

Building an energy-saving routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) to increase the lifetime
of network is very necessary. On-demand routing protocols indicate their efficiency and get many interests
because of low-cost routing. Nevertheless, using the best single path to transmit data results in high
frequency of flooding, high power consumption, and does not take full advantage of high density of sensor
nodes to spread data. These problems can be avoided by using multipath routing algorithms. It is
performed in two different ways e.g. disjoint multipath and braided multipath. In this paper, we investigate
multipath routing algorithm and compare them with single path based on the expectation of lifetime of
each mechanism.
