In a recent study examining effects of astaxanthin (Asta) on elevated blood pressure (BP) and glucose-insulin perturbations in Zucker Fatty Rats (ZFR), we found under conditions examined that this carotenoid at the doses under investigation lowered systolic BP (SBP) consistently, but had no significant influences on glucoseinsulin metabolism [1].
