In our previous study, we developed and administered a communication skills training program to our emergency medicine residents (1). Our study showed that participation in a communication skills training program was associated with improved communication skills of emergency medicine residents, increased patient satisfaction and decreased complaints. Emergency nurses, just like emergency physicians, need special communication skills that can affect both their professional success as well as patient satisfaction.
