An analysis on English proverbs containing antonyms.



"This paper is set up to bring readers to some background
knowledge of English proverbs, the differences between proverbs and idioms as
well as between English proverbs and Vietnamese ones. This thesis focuses only on proverbs
that contain antonyms. As a result, some fundamental knowledge of antonymy is
also mentioned. And through proverbs of the two languages, especially the ones
containing antonyms we will have a look on the similarities and differences
between the two cultures. Also in this study, some solutions to learn proverbs
effectively are suggested."​
